Catalytic combustion is currently one of the most effective technologies for treating volatile organic compounds(VOCs). Precious metals catalysts have been widely used in the catalytic oxidation of VOCs due to their high activity and stability. The research progress of precious metal catalysts were reviewed. The effects of types of active components (Pd, Pt and Au), particle size, preparation methods, synergetic effect, carrier properties and the interaction between carriers and active metals on the performance of catalysts were systematically discussed. At last, the research directions for the catalysts were proposed.
